The Utah Hospital Association Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of Francis Gibson as its next President/CEO, effective January 1, 2024. Gibson succeeds Greg Bell, who retired after 10 years of service to the Association at the end of 2023.

Immediately prior to his appointment to UHA, Gibson served as CEO of Intermountain Health’s Spanish Fork Hospital, a position he held since August 2018. Prior to his work at Spanish Fork, Francis led Intermountain’s Orem Community Hospital. He also has extensive experience with healthcare process improvement and surgery center operations.

Gibson is widely known for his service in the Utah House of Representatives from 2008-2021. Along with serving on several influential legislative committees--including Executive Appropriations--Gibson also served as Majority Leader and Majority Whip during his tenure in the House.

"UHA is fortunate to have a new leader with first-hand experience in both hospital operations and the state legislative process," commented UHA Board Chair Charlton Park. "The Board also wants to express its sincere thanks to Greg Bell for his leadership of the Association over the past ten years, especially during the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. We are well positioned to build from Greg’s legacy to an even stronger future under Francis’ leadership in the coming years."
