Senator Stuart Adams, a member of the Board of Trustees for Davis Hospital & Medical Center in Layton, was recently awarded the 2019 Urban Hospital Trustee Service Award by the Utah Hospital Association. The award, presented during the Association’s Fall Leadership Conference at Deer Valley Resort in Park City, recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to Utah’s healthcare sector while serving as a community trustee.

Stuart Adams has served on the Board of Trustees of Davis Hospital & Medical Center for 17 years. He has been a dedicated board member, rarely missing a board meeting unless attending to his responsibilities as President of the Utah Senate.

As a long-time member of the Davis Hospital board, Stuart has been instrumental in the growth and development of the facility’s medical capabilities. Several projects have come to fruition during his board tenure, including the South Tower addition, an emergency room renovation and expansion, and a remodel of the hospital’s labor and delivery areas. Additionally, Davis Hospital opened a freestanding emergency room facility in Roy, bringing emergency care to communities west of I-15.

Legislatively, in addition to his duties as Senate President, Adams serves on the Executive Appropriations and Social Services Appropriations committees. His Standing Committee assignments include Health & Human Services, Government Operations & Political Subdivisions, Transportation, Public Utilities, and Energy & Technology.

Adams was appointed to the Utah House of Representatives in 2002 and has been a state senator since 2009. During his tenure, he has served in various capacities, including chairing the Utah State Transportation Commission and the Military Installation Development Authority.

Despite his busy schedule as Senate President, Adams continues to serve as a leader in Utah’s healthcare industry and his community. Stuart served nine years on the Layton City Council and is a past President of the Northern Wasatch Home Builders Association. He was recognized as the “Business Person of the Year” by the Utah State Chamber of Commerce in 2002.

“Stuart Adams is an exceptional member of the Utah state legislature and the community as a whole,” commented Brian Dunn, President of Steward Healthcare’s Utah Region. “We are honored to have his continued service as a member of the Davis Hospital & Medical Center Board of Trustees.”
